Mirrorless, WE DON’T DESIGN | Francesco Meneghello
Mirrorless is a metaphysical object. It belongs to worlds of thought that depart from rational logic in order to experiment with other universes of meaning related to abstraction, paradox and utopia. Its conceptual identity is in the absence of a reflective surface and in the presence of a void that eludes the dimensional limits of the physical object.

“It’s a void full of meaning that doesn’t subtract, but adds infinite possibilities of experience and relationship with reality. “The artistic world of reference is Lucio Fontana’s research, his instinct to force the flat dimension of the canvas as an act of construction and not destruction.”

Mirrorless is a utopian object. The absence of the reflected image is a distraction from the ephemeral vanity of selfies, the culture of self-referentiality and standardised aesthetic that increasingly distances us from reality. The possibility of looking ‘beyond’, through a kind of photographic window, invites a slow, silent, solitary and introspective contemplative experience.

A digitally disconnected yet fully engaged knowledge of the real world that does not pose, but constantly changes its state of being. Mirrorless is a solid, stable and sculptural piece that interacts with the environment through constant reflection and framing. Everything except the face is reflected on the highly polished steel surface, creating a kind of universal representation of the world where the human figure, light and landscape become one.
