Interior lighting
Light shapes space before anything else. It precedes colour, anticipates form, reveals or dissolves what architecture has built. For the studio, designing interior lighting means working on the invisible, on the quality of the air between things, on perception as it shifts with the passing of hours.
Method
We treat illumination with the same weight we give to proportion, finish and furniture. The lighting project enters the process from the earliest layout hypotheses. We work on the layering of different sources, on temperature and intensity, building for each room a landscape of light that shifts with the hours of the day, where even the zones of shadow play a precise role.
Interior lighting design phases
1. Existing light analysis
survey of natural and artificial lighting in the spaces, with mapping of light sources, lighting points, colour temperatures and shadow zones. Analysis of room orientation, existing shading devices and solar exposure at different times of day.
2. Lighting concept
definition of the language of the luminaires, the type of emission — direct, indirect, diffused —, the rhythm and intensity of light across the different spaces. Development of photorealistic daytime and night-time renderings to define the evolution of light over the course of the day and the relationship between natural and artificial illumination.
3. Technical design
preparation or updating of the electrical scheme dedicated to lighting, with specifications for circuits, supply points and control systems. Definition of the guidelines for programming lighting scenes on the home automation system.
4. Lighting verification
simulations and calculations of illuminance, uniformity and colour rendering to verify the required performance and regulatory compliance, with any necessary refinement of the concept and the technical design.
5. Coordination and logistics
selection of suppliers and installers, preparation and negotiation of quotations, and definition of the schedule for ordering and installation of the fixtures.
6. Installation and calibration
supervision of the installation of each fixture, adjustment of positions and directions of adjustable luminaires, setup of programmed scenes and final calibration of intensity and colour temperature.
Applications
Residential lighting
lighting design for apartments, villas and private residences, with scenes calibrated to daily activities and the atmosphere of the spaces.
Workplace lighting
lighting design for offices and workspaces, with attention to visual comfort, reduction of eye strain and compliance with illuminance standards.
Commercial lighting
lighting design for shops, showrooms and exhibition spaces, with differentiated management of general lighting, accent lighting and circulation lighting.
Lighting for hospitality
lighting design for hotels, restaurants and hospitality spaces, with scenes calibrated to atmosphere, visual comfort and the different patterns of use across the spaces.
Lighting for artworks and collections
definition of lighting scenes for artworks, collectible objects and material surfaces, with attention to colour rendering, glare control and the relationship between light, support and context.
Garden and exterior lighting
lighting design for façades, green spaces, pathways and outdoor areas, with fixtures selected for weather resistance and integration with the landscape.
Lighting studies
technical reports with calculations of illuminance, uniformity and colour rendering, for regulatory checks and system sizing.
Lighting system upgrades
upgrading of existing lighting systems with low-consumption light sources and replacement of obsolete fixtures.
Home automation design
development of integrated light-control systems through home automation protocols, with scene programming, timed automations and remote management.
Vision
Light is the most ephemeral element of a project and the most persistent in perception. It changes with the hours, with the seasons, with the life that moves through the spaces. Our lighting projects work with this instability, follow it, give it form. For the studio, the completeness of an interior is measured also in the quality of its light.
