Aldilà, the collectible design project born from the collaboration between Francesco Meneghello and maître parfumeur Spyros Drosopoulos for WE DON'T DESIGN, featured in the Mood & Vibes section of Design Diffusion News.
Design Diffusion News features Aldilà in its Mood & Vibes section. On the facing page, the Lee Miller retrospective at Tate Britain: the American photographer who in the 1920s moved from model to Man Ray collaborator, then to war reporter, navigating opposing worlds with a free and visionary gaze.
The pairing suggests a precise interpretive key. Lee Miller used photography to free the gaze from logic, traversing fashion, surrealism and reportage with the same attitude. The visual project Rêverie, curated by Milan-based photographer Thomas Pagani for WE DON'T DESIGN, operates an analogous subtraction: it emancipates collectibles from the tyranny of function to restore them as pure visual thought. Two practices that mirror each other in their use of the image as a tool of inquiry, tracing paths that elude any fixed category.
The title chosen by journalist Paola Molteni, "Charon, do not be vexed", quotes the third canto of the Inferno. The Dantean framework of the project becomes a narrative register: nine spheres as the nine circles, 333 centilitri as a reference to the numerology of three. A symbolic code that places Aldilà in the territory of cultural operation.
